Polyethylene

Polyethylene is an economical plastic that provides chemical resistance and low temperature toughness. Plastic resins are not any one material, but a family of related materials with various properties that can be formed to meet the requirements for the bottles, containers, closures, and caps and is used as a means of packaging for various products.

The most frequently used grades are High-density polyethylene, Low-density polyethylene, and Medium-density polyethylene.

Other forms include:

  • Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)
  • Ultra-low-molecular-weight polyethylene (ULMWPE or PE-WAX)
  • High-molecular-weight polyethylene (HMWPE)
  • High-density polyethylene (HDPE)
  • High-density cross-linked polyethylene (HDXLPE)
  • Cross-linked polyethylene (PEX or XLPE)
  • Medium-density polyethylene (MDPE)
  • Linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE)
  • Low-density polyethylene (LDPE)
  • Very-low-density polyethylene (VLDPE)
  • Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE)
